Are you interested in becoming a consignor to J.S. Dill Auctions, Inc.? As a seller you will quite fairly have many questions about “how this all works”. Our number one job is to ensure that all of your questions are completely answered during your decision making process.
SOME QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT ALREADY HAVE:
1. Why should I place my things at auction?
… Because it is the most fair evaluation of the current worth of your merchandise. Better to let many people in a room of competitive bidding vie for your item than to accept one opinion of value from one individual.
2. Who attends auctions and does it cost money to go?
… Auctions are attended by passionate collectors from the general public, eBay internet auction sellers, conventional antiques dealers, museum representatives, set designers, individuals from the personal care sector, etc. People just like us. The experience of attending an auction is free-of-charge until you “win the bid” on something.
3. What is a silent auction?
… This is an auction typically held for charitable events. It involves the display of merchandise for auction and invites a written bid to be entered for the item on your behalf. When the auction’s time limit expires the top bid on the paper “wins the item”.
4. What is an absolute auction?
… Auctions conducted under the title “Absolute” have “no reserves”. By this we mean that auction sellers can set a minimum acceptable amount for their items as they cross the block at an auction. Under this price the item is withdrawn from the auction. Over the price it sells. These are “reserves”. The term “Absolute” means that no such terms have been placed on any items at that auction.
5. What are absentee and sealed bids?
… An absentee bid is placed by a buyer on a formal bid form and submitted to the auction company on an item prior to its sale. The bidder is not in attendance at the auction, the auctioneer bids on his or her behalf and then notifies the winning bidder where appropriate.
… A sealed bid is a bid privately submitted to an auction company on a formal bid form and submitted to the auction company. It is then held by the company until the bid deadline, when all bids on the item are internally reviewed by the company and the winning bidder notified.
6. Why is the auction method best for me?
… Easy. Done correctly, it is the most quick and efficient answer known for converting merchandise to cash. Everything from attics to entire homes can be converted easily just by picking up the telephone. The process is simple … here’s how it works:
… Make contact with J.S. Dill Auctions, Inc. @ 724.453.0853.
… Speak to anyone about your specific situation and requirements.
… Choose to e-mail us pictures if you wish, right through this website.
… Expect contact by Jack Dill or Bob Hanks to schedule a visit to your site.
… When all parties on the site agree to hire J.S. Dill Auctions, a contract is signed authorizing us to act as your agent throughout the auction process.
… A move with our trucks and movers will be scheduled and completed. You are also welcomed to drop off merchandise when dealing with personally-manageable quantities.
… Merchandise is then photographed for the website, lotted and stored. Prior to its sale it is previewed, sold and your check will be postmarked the 15th working day subsequent to your auction.
… You will receive a full accounting of your consignment, by single item in the case of standalone merchandise, or a general description of clustered items of lesser value.
7. How do we charge?
… We charge one total fee – a commission – for our services. This commission is based upon many factors including, but not limited to, the quality and breadth
of the offering, complexity of the movement of the merchandise involved, handling and drayage requirements, etc.
This charge also includes all expenses to us involved in shooting website photography and creating advertising uploads, the auction sale itself and all related accounting and associated services.
Give us a call and we’ll custom-design a commission rate that is suitable to your exact situation!
